APHIS Partners with End Rabies Now

APHIS, the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service of the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) has today joined the campaign to eliminate human deaths from canine mediated rabies by 2030. APHIS has an integrated team, the National Rabies Management Programme (NRMP) whose aim is to prevent the further spread of wildlife rabies and eventually to eliminate terrestrial rabies in the United States.

APHIS has been working with the Global Alliance for Rabies Control for a number of years but “formalizing this partnership will ensure we can continue to move aggressively to control and eventually eliminate rabies at its source in dog populations and wildlife” said Rich Chipman the Rabies Management Coordinator.
